I recently hosted a baby shower for my sister-in-law, Nicole, who is expecting a little girl. I did a lot of the decorations in teal, blue, and pink since I know that Nicole likes the teal/blue family of colors but of course with a little girl we had to add the pink.
On our fireplace mantel I strung a clothes line and added fun little onsies, botties, a bib, and stickers with the month on them. Then on top of the mantel I had books that I had purchased for the baby. I had asked guests to bring a book instead of a card so that we could get a good little library going for my niece. If you look close there are two frames one with a picture of Nicole and one picture of my brother Kody when they were babies. Nicole also gets to keep the frames and hopefully they will work for the new baby in the nursery.
My sweet mom made two beautiful diaper cakes filled with all sorts of goodies for the baby. She honestly just followed directions that she found online, they turned out super cute. I will caution that diaper cakes are not cheap to make, diapers are expensive and then you need to add little goodies to make it cute. All the toppers for the diaper cakes she purchased at Motifs if you are in need of cute toppers. I love the Montana hat with the babiators!
For an activity during the shower I had ordered the parts for guests to make little girl headbands. I had tons of different colors and jewels for guests to use and be creative, and Nicole went home with a huge pile of baby headbands.
I love interactive showers, maybe because it is easier on me as the host. I did a vodka bar for this shower. So guests were able to make their own drink adding vodka, lemonade, and fruit. It turned out to be a great hit and people had fun making up their own drinks. I just bought lemonade from the store however I added fresh sprigs of rosemary and mint. I encourage you to try it sometime, the more fresh herbs you add the more dimension your lemonade will have and it becomes so yummy! For fruit I had of course lemons, and then strawberry and raspberries.
For lunch a served a chicken salad with fresh croissants from Big Sky Bread and Bakery. If you have never had their baked goods you need to run not walk and try them out, most amazing baked goods EVER! And then I did a few different salads; seafood pasta salad, strawberry spinach salad, potato salad, and a fresh fruit salad. The cute sticks were from Michaels and I wrote on them with a chalk pen – which are awesome to write with.
Here is a picture of my sister, Joslin, and my sister-in-laws, Nicole and Jana. Jana, Joslin, my mom and my aunt Mollie helped make this baby shower a success. It takes a village to pull off a party.
Now we just get to play the waiting game until my sweet niece Claire makes her big debut…Can’t wait!
